Tenses : thou art heartless bitches! Its not a spelling error, I did mean those irritating past, present and future conjugations of verbs, made irritatingly famous by English teachers worldwide and Wren & Martin. They are the most detailed interpretations of the theory of life. Every verb has a past, present annd future, and can be conjugated in many forms : participles, perfect, continuous etc. Life, similarly, is conjugated in similar methods. Good, bad and ugly. And in these permutations, words play very powerful roles with well defined meanings.
When one analyses it, we find the interpretation to be true. When you think of a future, however you conjugate it, it will indicate beauty glory and happiness. It gives us hope by painting a pretty rosy picture. The ill effect being, the subject of uncertainty. The future comes with a disclaimer of not resembling any event which may be alive or dead. It is a work of fiction, any inconvenience thereby regretted.
Conjugating the present is like the moon. You can choose to walk on the good side. Or prance along the dark. It offers you choice. And that can be a dangerous thing. Red pill or blue, accoding to Morpheus. You may choose the beaten track of convention and kead a safe, moral, preachy life, or step into the dark, try to illuminate it, and go out in a blaze of glory.
The past, though gramatically, can be conjugated; doesnt offer the same mode in life. There s nothing you can do about the past. But, there is a rabbit hole. You can choose to regret the past, not learn lessons and live your life regretting, hurting and obsessing over it, or you could just smile at it and walk away, knowing that whatever doesnt kill you makes you stronger.
The English language is filled with bad phrases, and the worst according to me is 'We could have been....' Its the saddest one of all. Its the future, its continous and its one that encompasses the sum of all the bad things Messrs. Wren & Martin could throw at us. It symbolises a dream, which could have been positive and led to unbeknownst happiness, but the door s shutting on you ever so slowly, and you dont have the time to reach it, and the run tires you out and when you fall, it painfully reminds you of all the good times spent, and what you re just about to miss.
I heard the future continuous yesterday, and it broke my heart. Even though I was told by my sister that I was the strongest person she knew, I dont feel the same way. My heart beats a million beats a minute, my breath catches and I feel giddy and helpless at the very thought that my door to happiness would shut off in a matter of a few months. But somehow, an angel in white does remind me that there is a present and there is time and place to romp on the dark side of the moon, and create a past where there are no regrets and only smiles. As of now, I choose this present over anything else, because these are the days that ll help me spend the rest of my life with a smile.
As a wise turtle once told a helpless panda - ' Yesterday s history, tomorrow s a mystery, which is why they call today the present, because its a gift '
